We are currently attempting a new theme for the COSI website. Please direct constructive criticism/praise to the COSI mailing list. Please make suggestions (both keeps and changes, please), and us know whether you like the new theme or old one better. Already several changes have been made based on feedback, and a few things kept the way they are because they were liked.

If you find any features that are broken (besides the fact that the mirror team is still working on getting mirror back up) please let us know of that also. If the page does not appear properly, if you could describe the situation and possibly even send a screenshot it would be much appreciated. Please direct correspondence to the COSI mailing list.

Have you heard all the hype about Linux? Here you can find information about COSI, open source software, taking COSI for credit, and some of the projects we are working on–as well as find access to our image galleries and file mirror. If we’re missing something you want, or have made some error, let us know.

At COSI, students and professors work together on innovative research projects and develop incomparable professional and social skills. Whether new to technology or a veteran, a computer scientist or a member of another discipline, COSI is the perfect refuge to stand on the shoulders of giants and both learn from and contribute to the knowledge base we maintain.

We provide a constructive environment where students and professors can each benefit from the combined expertise of our members, discuss important problems in technology and propose solutions, improve their own abilities, ask for homework help, and simply enjoy a coffee or tea and lightly discuss philosophy for a quick break from the perils of their freshman physics class.

We are the Clarkson Open Source Institute–where class meets with service, students with professors, and experience with credit. With unparalleled achievement, its no wonder why COSI members are considered by several top employers as members of the most employable students, bar none.

We are where today’s innovation succeeds in tomorrow’s industry, and we have the award, employment, and internship track record to prove it!

COSI recently received a plethora of new server hardware through a grant from IBM, including ten blade servers, and eight terabytes of RAID storage. Most of the hardware has arrived, and almost everything is ready to be set up. COSI is just waiting on the new sever rack and electrical upgrades to the lab. COSI would like to thank Eli Dow and IBM for the grant.

Over the summer, the Applied Computer Science labs (COSI, ITL, and VRL) were renovated. (Pictures of the labs before the renovations can be found in the workday galleries from last year.) The labs were gutted, completely redone, and then everything was re-organized and put into place. The Rechler Foundation granted the budget for the renovations.

We would also like to thank IBM and the Clarkson Alumni for visiting and sharing their experiences and project ideas.
